Hands-on Cultural History

Hands-on Cultural History

I create educational settings for people of all ages to have interactive learning experiences with cultural heritage – be it artefacts, architectures, stories and literature, philosophy or traditional practices.

For me, encounters with cultural history are not simply about learning information, rather they are an invitation to active engagement. I focus on designing hands-on, creative tasks that give us reasons to connect to cultural history and its archived knowledge, and to integrate it in our own personal way into something relevant to us, here and now.

Since 2012 I have designed intercultural study sessions on Weimar’s rich cultural history as OMA-projects in cooperation with AFS Intercultural Programs and the Klassik Stiftung Weimar. The #openpavillon project was born out of these experiences.

I worked as city guide in a dozen cities across Europe and Asia and as theatrical castle guide reenacting historical characters at Leuchtenburg (Thüringen).

This work is based on my university studies in art history, European cultural history, intercultural and post-colonial studies and philosophy.
